The Diwali special shoot for Femina is something I’ll cherish forever. The obvious reason aside, it was also largely because I almost didn’t make it. When Kinjal from Femina called me for the shoot, I was still in Mcleodganj. We had to move the shoot a little bit so I could be a part of it and she was kind enough to go to the Asopalav store to pick up an outfit of my choice. (She sent me pics of outfits from the store!).
I flew back from Mcleodganj the night before the shoot and as rejuvenating as the trip was, I was tired to my bones and carrying enough holiday weight! But, nothing comes before posing right 🙂
Thanks to ace photographer Kavan Solanki from Designshoots, I looked as good as I did. He’s a magician!
And a big big hug to Ayesha from Hyatt for hosting us :).

Diwali for me for the last few years has been either an anarkali dress or a saree. I have gotten so bored of it that I knew this year it will be anything but those! I chose this beautiful gown for Diwali this year because it is very chic yet very understated in it’s elegance. It’s not unnecessarily heavy or gaudy like the usual festive attire and I don’t have to worry about the embroidery cutting into my flesh 😉
I wanted statement pieces which would stand out. Also, because the gown is so simple, I needed the jewelry to bling it up a little. I chose diamond and ruby earrings which gives the outfit just the right sparkle and chose a rose gold stone bracelet which accentuates the upturned cuffs of the jacket.
The gown is very comfortable to carry. I can practically do all my running around in them without any worry whatsoever. The faux dhoti knot in the front of the gown gives it just the right edge and takes the look up several notches! It is not your simple gown mind you! The floral jacket has intricate work which adds just the right amount of festive glitter without going over the top. The gown has a very contemporary cut and drape without compromising on the fall and I simply love that!
I am infamous for flouting rules especially when it comes to fashion. So for me this gown is very very apt for Diwali. It’s the right mix of elegance and festivity.
