It’s almost the end of June 2016 which means half the year has already gone by. Didn’t we all just celebrate NYE! But, anyway, mid year is a good time to review your progress on your New Year Resolutions, isn’t it?

You can read my resolutions for 2016 here but in a nutshell I decided to spend much lesser time on FB and read 50 books this year.

I am very proud to say that I have gotten rid of my FB addiction completely. I am so happy to no more be sucked into the whirlpool of compulsively reading what the others are posting, eating, travelling to etc etc. Not that I am jealous or I grudge anybody their lives, I truly believe I’ve become much more calm and content with what I have because of lesser involvement on social media. (Btw you can follow me on instagram here).

The other “must do” item on my Resolution list was to read 50 books this year. I am an out and out bookworm but my attention span had gone abysmally low and that had me worried. I am ecstatic to report that I’ve already read 28 books this year which makes me perfectly on track and I am enjoying every bit of my bibliophilia. I thought I will also take the opportunity to share my top 5 favorite books this year with all of you:

Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins

If you’re into Psychological thrillers, chances are you’ve already read it, but if you haven’t, you cannot miss it. Goosebumps all through! Best debut novel ever!

Creative Schools by Sir Ken Robinson

For anyone who’s seen Ken Robinson’s TED talk video….this book goes a step ahead. Leaves you with so many questions on the current education system (also the solutions). Schools definitely kill creativity. As an educator this book is my Bible in trying to make education more engaging and fruitful for students.

What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty

Alice is totally me. No seriously! If I were to lose my memory and wake up at 40 thinking I was 30, I ll be in for a shock too. How she deals with it is amazing. Makes me want to believe in love, self worth and family more than ever. Must must read!

Behind Closed Doors by B. A. Paris

Spine chilling, mind numbingly grotesque! I cannot believe a human being can be so sinister yet so normal. I finished it in one go and could not sleep for the longest time. If you believe in happily ever after, this book may be your moment of truth.

The Ice Twins by S. K. Tremayne

This book will make you go through a series of emotions- it is thrilling, riveting, spine chilling, morose and at times scary. Another amazing debut novel. If psychological thrillers is your thing (and even if it’s not) do not miss this one.

For all those who complain I don’t wear enough Indian outfits on the blog, this post is especially for you.

For the little bit of Rajasthani in me I had to do the thumka ;)

For the little bit of Rajasthani in me I had to do the thumka 😉

The outfit is a Surendri by Yogesh Chaudhary and those gorgeous chaand-baalis are by Ritika Sachdeva. You can rent them both from Flyrobe for one tenth the price! CB firmly believes-  Don’t buy what you can rent/borrow. Recycle. Reuse.

If you love designer wear but don’t agree with the exorbitant pricing, Flyrobe is just the place for you. They have an amazing line up of designers and curated outfits all available to rent at throwaway prices. This wedding season, I suggest you chuck your usual plans and scout their website for premium ethnic wear!

Don't you just love the shoes!

Don’t you just love the shoes!

I am also completely in love with my heels from Intoto. They give the otherwise sober outfit an extremely glam look. Do check out their collection here.

My hair is painfully straight so I went for a messy “just out of bed hair” look (although it took me some effort to make it look like this;)). Hope you like what you see. Do write in as usual 🙂

Stay Gorgeous xx
